[RuleML-all] RuleML implementations

Hi Aldo,
As far as mandarax is concerned - I think it is pretty mature but there is
currently not much development going on. The functionality is
well-documented and there are about 800 junit test cases. According to SF
statistics, we had had more than 15000 downloads.
Having said this, mandarax has a couple of features which are difficult to
map to RuleML, in particular semantic functions and predicates (e.g.,
methods instantiated by java methods such as equals), and clause sets
(instead of using facts and rules as basic data structure mandarax uses
factories for fact/rule iterators). This is the main reason that updating
the mandarax support for RuleML does not have high priority.
If you want to try mandarax, you can easily get started by downloading oryx
from http://sf.net/projects/oryx . A public mandarax based system is
deployed here http://possumdss.landcareresearch.co.nz/ , although the actual
(web based, based on the oryx tag library) rule editor is not public for the
obvious reasons. But you can still query the kb.
Cheers, Jens

Subject: [RuleML-all] RuleML implementations
Hi all,
We are building a pretty large pricing application that evidently
requires some sort of rule engine... and for some days I have been
experimenting with Jesse.
I just run into RuleML a couple of hours ago.
A few questions.
- are there any production-ready RuleML implementations available?
-- so far I have identified Mandarax and jDrew as the first candidates
for review, but both projects look ( at least from the surface ) a
little immature. Am I wrong?
-- Any large scale application using one of this implementations?
- otherwise, any pointers to other alternatives ( Java / OS if
possible ), resources, books, etc would be greately appreciated.
I have noticed a very low movement level on the lists... are you
running smoothly or is the initiative somehow stuck?
Sorry if this email sounds a little negative. It is not, just asking
the important questions upfront before jumping onboard ;)
Thanks,
Aldo
